Titisee in the Black Forest

Titisee is the largest naturally formed lake in the Black Forest. It is also home of the town called Titisee. Titisee has a population of 2,000. Due to the fact that Tittisee is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Black Forest the population triples in size in summer. Sometimes there are more than 6,000 people through town. The map of Tittisee shows you where the lake is located.

Tittisee

If you look at pictures of Tittisee you will soon discover that it is a very small take indeed. It will only take you about 90 minutes to walk around the entire lake. Some of the best Black Forest cake in the area is being served at Lake Titisee. If you are traveling on one of our Black Forest Tours we will make sure to point out where to stop for a piece of cake! There is also plenty of opportunity to shop for cuckoo clocks at the lake. In summer you can take a boat ride across the lake and enjoy this big Black Forest attraction.

Black Forest Travel Guide

A written Black Forest Travel Guide is difficult to find. Most travel books encompass all of Germany, only mentioning a few sentences about the Black Forest. The Black Forest of Germany is a popular travel destination for German and European visitors and therefore most of the information available to visitors is written in German or another European language. There are travel books like Rick Steves’ Travel Guide to Germany. But Rick Steves, after all, is a tourist as well. His knowledge and understanding of the Black Forest is limited to his own experience, not what you would get directly from a local. If you want to travel like a local – we are the locals.

Over the years we have compiled all our experiences into one compact Black Forest Travel Guidebook. With each purchase of one of our Black Forest tours you will be receiving a complimentary copy of the ‘Feel at Home in the Black Forest’ travel guide. Different sections will explain the local food to you, the local traditions and customs. With our guide you can confidently travel in the Black Forest.
