Off The Beaten Path

If you’ve done the main attractions and would like to shift gears, this tour is for you. We’ll get off the beaten path, take in the southern wine country, eat at a remote farm-house restaurant, visit some ancient Roman (hot) baths. This southern corner of the Black Forest is known by locals as the “Tuscany of Germany” and we show you why!

Tour Description

On my off days you can find me here, because it’s very pretty and scenic and there are few tourists.

Your typical tour books stick to the well-known destinations and simply don’t mention this area we will be visiting today. Today we’ll be locals! But don’t worry if you speak no German. This guide will make it easy to get along just fine.

This wine area is referred to as the Tuscany of Germany by locals, and with good reason. Its the warmest area, producing very nice wines, and the food is also delicious. You have the option to visit one of the famous Roman thermal baths in the area – and yes – the Roman ruins are still there. Wine, scenic views, medieval towns, a monastery church, farmhouse restaurants, roman baths, Black Forest cake, beautiful gardens and a few castles ruins – this tour has it all.

This tour offers many scenic stops. Great tour for taking a picnic along – there are many options to get out of your car and go for a short (or longer) walk.

Good to know. This tour can be ideal for you if you are heading to Switzerland at the end of your day. Instead of returning to Freiburg we also provide you with a shortcut to get to Switzerland.

*Not included are the costs for your car rental, gasoline and your expenses for lunch and entrance fees.
