Meersburg is located on the Germany side of Lake Constance and one of the most charming towns at Lake Constance. The medieval city is a dream for any pedestrian- there are no cars allowed inside the old town. The name Meersburg literally means “Burg on the Lake”. The ‘Burg’ is referring to the castle which was built here in 630 and now overlooking Lake Constance.
If you look at pictures of Meersburg you can see the the town is a must-see destination at Lake Constance. A ferry takes you and your car across to Konstanz every 15 minutes. You can also take a tour boat to reach Konstanz. In summer Meersburg gets overwhelmed by crowds of tourists, so ideally you visit in late spring or in fall.
