Greetings from the Black Forest in Germany! My name is Simone and I am a native German (native Black Forest Girl that is). My specialty are Self-Guided Black Forest Tours for travelers like you – with lots of insight information only locals can provide you with.
After living in San Francisco for more than a decade working for various tech companies I have finally returned to the Black Forest and settled in the Freiburg area. After the work-focused lifestyle in the US it took a while to adjust to the laid-back lifestyle of Germany. But now I am again accustomed to sit in a beergarden discussing the weather and other important things in life.
After my return to Germany I kept running into English speaking travelers who had difficulties finding their way through the Black Forest on their Germany vacation. Mostly due to the fact that the Black Forest is a destination for German tourists. And that many guidebooks for the English-speaking visitor focus on other, more touristy areas in Germany. I started to create day tour itineraries for visiting friends. I soon discovered that people loved these tours. Through word of mouth I received more and more inquiries to design more tours. People loved the fact that a local is providing them with ‘local’ info versus touristy info. Of course you still want to see some touristy things, but you also want to get a feeling for the local culture and ideally get to know some local people. This is how Black Forest Self-Guided-Tours got started.
I also offer Guided Tours, Driver-Only Tours and Hiking Tours with Luggage Transfer through my agency Black Forest Tours (click for more info). But I understand that many people are on a budget while traveling and a private guide plus driver can be costly. In this case my downloadable Self-Guided-Tours are perfect for you. Self-Guided-Tours are one of the most competitively priced tour packages available in the Black Forest for the independent English-speaking visitor. You will not be able to find a similar tour of higher quality, I am sure of that.

I think this area is one of the most beautiful holiday regions in Germany and a must-see for any visitor. Besides having the best food in Germany, the people in Southwestern Germany are also known for their distinctive accent, their friendliness (it’s the sun!) and their hospitality. After touring Berlin, Munich and other major cities during your Germany vacation come relax in the Black Forest . Even if it’s only for a day. I know you will not be disappointed.
